Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan successfully underwent a brain surgery to remove a two-month-old clot at a hospital in Mumbai and will be discharged in a couple of days, doctor said.
"Hrithik Roshan was performing stunts for his upcoming film Bang Bang two months ago and he suffered an injury on his head. He started developing pain and hence he started taking pain killers but they wouldn't work. So, he went for a CT scan in May end. Later it was found that there was a clot in the brain," Dr VK Mishra, who is treating him, told reporters.
He said the surgery on the 39-year-old Krrish star was successful. "Hrithik is fully conscious and doing fine. He is currently under observation and will be discharged in two or three days. Hrithik has been advised 4-weeks bed rest after which he can resume shooting," Mishra said.
Hrithik's father, actor-director Rakesh Roshan said the actor was admitted to Hinduja Hospital in Khar in suburban Mumbai this morning.
"He (Hrithik) is doing fine now. He has been shifted to a room and will be discharged in two days," Rakesh Roshan told PTI after the two-hour long operation.
Mishra said that Hrithik was suffering from Subdural Hematoma caused in the brain as a result of the head injury.
He can resume shooting in four-weeks time, he said.
Hrithik's wife Sussanne was present at the hospital along with his parents throughout the surgery.
"Thank you for all your love and concern, Hrithik has come out of the surgery stronger than ever before. Gratitude and love to all of you for all your good wishes and prayers for him," a relieved Sussanne said in a statement.
Earlier, the actor took to his Facebook page to tell his fans about the surgery.
"I am going to go through brain surgery today and want you to know that I am going in with absolute power to recover fast. My thanks to all of you for using the power of your mind to contribute to my life. Love you all," Hrithik posted.
